Best Outdoorsman of 2008

Faithful was the only boy who took the Outdoorsman class. He had 5 Eagle scouts all to himself. They had a grand time. The boys said he was going to be an Eagle. Faithful was very knowledgable about what they were teaching, so they reversed things and had him teaching. I think they all enjoyed it. As a result, Faithful was named Best Outdoorsman of 2008.

Fishing award. Just look at that satisfied grin. All in all Webelos camp was a huge sucess.

Keifer and Faithful. Keifer is an Eagle Scout and the two of them hit it off. He was in charge of the Outdoorsman class. He wants Faithful to join his troop. I thought that was neat.
Goose feather found on the way to the campfire. The campfire was great. Faithful took part in the wood chip ceremony. That means he put a wood chip in the fire and it burns to ash. He promised that he would come back to Camp James Ray when he's a boy scout and take part in the ash ceremony. There is a story about the camp being relocated to make way for the lake and that the ash from the last campfire was taken. The fire has never died and each scout is a part of it forever. When he returns he will get a part of the ash to take away with him. I love the legends and stories of Scouting. It was special for me as I did my Wood Badge at Beautiful Camp James Ray.
