I visited my friend over at her blog, Magnolia Manor and noticed the playlist she posted. Well, let say I was a bit covetous so I followed the trail. Spending sveral hours finding the music and figuring out how to post it. Actually, I stayed up until 4 in the morning.
The music I chose is mostly from our music appreciation class. We are using MFW-ECC this year. The Hazell's have included hymn study through a book called Then Sings My Soul. It is a wonderful resource filled with the history, lyrics and music to all the classic hymns.
I am glad that MFW has included these classic hymns. They are so much a part of our Christian heritage. They are almost lost to today's generation of kids. Very few churches include them as part of worship, they have been put aside for contempory worship.
Contempory worship is awesome, too. Lots of great music. I just wish the worship leaders would not completely throw out all classic hymns. I shouldn't put so much emphasis on which songs are sung as long as the church is still teaching and leading the congregation in genuine worship. Just sadden by the lose of our history.
I was having trouble in this class because I can't carry a tune in a bucket. I had no idea how the song was supposed to sound. I am afraid I was teaching every song in the same off key tune and they were all beginning to sound the same. So, I shelved the book. Now, all I have to do is wander onto my blog for class and we can sing it correctly!
What I really like about Playlist.com is that even without a blog I can build a playlist and listen to it from their webpage. Another great resource from the internet.
Grab a cup of tea, the kiddos and sing along offering praise to God, Creator of heaven and earth.
